Lito Adiwang thinks Stephen Loman is close to a ONE world title shot

Stephen “The Sniper” Loman is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after Filipino fighters on the exciting ONE Championship roster.

Since joining the promotion’s bantamweight division early last year, Loman blasted two top names in the division, starting with a first-round knockout of Yusup Saadulaev followed by a hard-earned split-decision win over Shoko Sato.

This prompted him to jump into the fourth spot of the bantamweight rankings rather quickly, but while some are surprised with his meteoric rise, his teammates aren’t that shocked – especially Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang.

“I am really excited about his future. We’ve seen how strong he is, his entire arsenal,” Adiwang said.

“I’m excited because he’s good at a lot of things. He’s not only a striker, but he can also roll on the ground, he can wrestle, he’s a complete package.”

Adiwang further added that he believes Loman is ready to challenge for the ONE Bantamweight World Title, expecting his compatriot to get a shot after one more win.

He needs not to look far though, as talks of a clash between Loman and the longtime divisional king and current #1-ranked contender Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes have surfaced over the past few weeks.ONE-Inside-the-Matrix-Lito-Adiwang-entrance Lito Adiwang thinks Stephen Loman is close to a ONE world title shot Mixed Martial Arts News ONE Championship - philippine sports news

Should that happen, “Thunder Kid” is confident that Loman will win and get a subsequent crack at current divisional king John “Hands of Stone” Lineker.

“If he gets Bibiano and he beats him, I think he deserves a shot at the probable winner between [Fabricio] Andrade and Lineker, if that happens. I truly think he’s close to the belt,” Adiwang said.

While most Team Lakay fighters have the stigma of being amazing strikers but lacking on the ground, Adiwang believes Loman breaks that stereotype.

He’s a complete fighter. Most people would say Team Lakay fighters are strikers, but Stephen Loman is a complete package. That makes him really special,” Adiwang said.

“He can play on the ground, he can outwrestle you, and, as we’ve seen, he can knock you out too. That’s what makes him special.”
