One of the brightest prospects from Lions Nation MMA’s “Young Lions” unit will be given an opportunity to take his budding career to new heights.
Jahn Serbo is positioned to vie for the inaugural Zeus Combat League (ZCL) strawweight championship in the start-up organization’s sophomore offering entitled “Supremacy,” scheduled for October 26 at the SM North Edsa Sky Dome in Quezon City.
There, he goes up against grizzled veteran Fernando Venus in a five-round duel for the gold-plated strap.
Tiebreaker Times received this information directly from ZCL’s matchmaking team.
Serbo, who enters the five-round duel with an unblemished 6-0 record, draws attention with his explosive and high-energy offense.
“The Prince” had long been a fixture in Benguet-based competitions, but his chance to strut his wares on a bigger stage only came when he joined Lions Nation MMA, a stable established by Eduard Folayang, Joshua Pacio, Kevin Belingon, and Honorio Banario in 2023.
The 26-year-old standout from Baguio City made an impressive promotional debut, submitting Arsenio Balisacan in the first round with a triangle choke.
Serbo’s next challenge sees him taking on an opponent with nothing to lose but everything to gain.
Venus, 39, has been a professional mixed martial artist since 2013, holding a win-loss slate of 2-4.
The Antipolo resident is a pressure striker with a Muay Thai background. His most notable accomplishment came in March 2019 when he captured the WBC Muay Thai national super flyweight belt, stopping Jervie Kosca Tiongco by technical knockout in the fifth round.
Despite not having fought under MMA rules since 2022, Venus aims to defy the odds versus a much younger and stronger counterpart in Serbo.
Apart from Serbo and Venus, ZCL 2: Supremacy will also feature other promising talents from the local MMA scene, including McLeary Ornido, Ef Sevilla, Greg Valerio, and Hero Manguray.
The official bout lineup is expected to be released in the coming days.
