American import Lindsey Vander Weide claimed the Premier Volleyball League Finals MVP after helping Petro Gazz defend its Reinforced Conference title, Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
Vander Weide averaged 26.5 points per game in the best-of-three Finals against the Cignal HD Spikers.
“All around, this is one of the most amazing conferences I’ve played in. It feels great to be doing this with this team,” she said.
The 25-year-old product of Oregon University hammered down a personal-best 34 points on 31 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace on top of eight excellent digs and five excellent receptions in the Angels’ Game One win.
She then turned in a 19-point performance in the championship-clinching Game Two to seal the award.
Vander Weide is the second import to win Finals MVP since Janisa Johnson in 2019.
