Was letting go of Kevin Alas the right thing to do for Rain or Shine?

The one that got away.

For two games now, rookie standout Kevin Alas has shown his full potential and made known to everyone that he’s ready to play big-time basketball for a big-time club like Talk N Text.

On Sunday, he made a strong case about that as he torched the very same team that drafted and traded him prior to the start of the season. He scored 18 points against Rain or Shine in what was easily his best game in this early phase of his career.

Now Rain or Shine may be thinking about the precious gem it unloaded for a team that is already teeming with talent.

To compound the team’s woes, Paul Lee, the main reason why Alas got traded, has been having a spate of bad luck early on. Lee, the talented, more experience, yet injury prone player, got hurt anew. Just a few days after recovering from a hyper extended knee injury, Lee hurt his shin in a collision with Talk N Text guard Ryan Reyes.

One would wonder whether Rain or Shine has made the right decision with trading Alas for a future first round pick and keeping Lee.

Now that Lee is getting banged up, who should Rain or Shine to turn to to provide consistency at the point guard spot.

The Elasto Painters also started the season missing Chris Tiu, another point guard, who reinjured his hamstring and will be out for a few more weeks.
