Lanky guard Abiera remains with NU

Another Bullpup has chosen to grow up as a Bulldog.

Six-foot-one combo guard Renzo Abiera has committed to remain with National University.

And it’s another welcome development for incoming second year Bulldogs head coach Jeff Napa, who steered the school to a 6-8 finish last season.

“Malaking bagay na nag-stestay yung mga high school players natin to the college lalo na sa chemistry at culture na binubuo natin sa team,” said Napa.

Back in UAAP Season 82, Abiera, who transferred from Siliman University, played in 12 games for the Bullpups, playing behind the likes of Gerry Abadiano, Reyland Torres, and Terrence Fortea.

The next two years would have been his breakout year but the boys’ basketball tournament of the league did not take place due to the ongoing pandemic.

“Si Renzo magiging magandang complement siya kayla Reyland, Janjan [Felicilda], at Steve Nash [Enriquez],” said Napa.

Two months ago, Abiera’s good pal Nat Tulabut also stayed in NU.

Abiera and Tulabut are eligible for the Season 85 tournament.
