DLSU Lady Spikers thoroughly crush Lady Warriors en route to Finals rematch

With their rivals, the Ateneo De Manila University, on deck, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers got their gears going, disposing of the University of the East Lady Warriors in straight sets 25-10, 25-13, 25-21, in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, earlier today.

Still strutting their championship form, the Lady Spikers made easy work of the Lady Warriors. La Salle even had the luxury of giving most of their bench players time on the court at different points in the match.

At one point in the second set, UE had 10 points, 10-19, all of which came from La Salle’s errors. But La Salle poured in 38 attacks to UE’s 16 while stacking up seven aces to UE’S one.

Middle blocker Mika Reyes led a balanced La Salle effort with 10 points, while Ara Galang unloaded nine. Shaya Adorador managed 10 points for the Lady Warriors, who lost their 50th straight match. La Salle now occupy second place with a 4-1 record.

La Salle’s much anticipated Finals rematch with the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles will be on Saturday, 4:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. UE will also take on the Lady Eagles on Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

“Siguro kung sino mas makakapagcontrol ng error, ayoon yung may advantage sa amin. Usually kung sino ‘yung mababa ‘yung error, sila ‘yung may success,” said DLSU head coach Ramil De Jesus on their Ateneo match.
