The defending UAAP champions ADMU Lady Eagles showcased another masterful performance with their three-set win against the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 on Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
Alyssa Valdez once again led the charge for Ateneo with 15 points, 13 coming from attacks and two from service aces. Valdez was helped by Michelle Morente, Ella de Jesus and the rest of Ateneo squad in a balanced scoring output. Morente had 12 with four ball denials and De Jesus chipped in nine.
Despite trailing by a big margin early on, the Lady Falcons inched to a 16-18 score in the opening set as their floor defense was at its best during the rally. However, Ateneo finished off the set by scoring the last seven points without any response from Adamson.
The Lady Eagles looked to finish the match early as they started the third set with a 10-2 rampage. Morente anchored the third canto offense with successive middle hits and the Lady Falcons struggled with their floor reception. Ateneo led by as much as 12, but this time around, they answered back in rallies put up by Adamson late in the set.
Ateneo led the majority of the stats as they successfully attacked more times 40-26, and displayed impeccable net defense with more blocks, 13-4. Julia Morado also made all her team’s 27 successful sets in the victory.
The Lady Eagles will aim to extend their win streak against FEU on Saturday at Araneta. On the other hand, the Lady Falcons will seek their first victory against UE on Sunday at San Juan Arena.
