Lady Bulldogs extend dominance to 3×3

The National University Lady Bulldogs’ dominance on the hard court spilled on the 3×3 court. The Afril Bernardino-led squad bagged the gold in the first ever UAAP 3×3 tournament at the expense of the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 15-6, Sunday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Music Hall.

With a powerhouse team composed of Afril Bernardino, Jack Danielle Animam, Annick Tiky, and Ria Nabalan, the Lady Bulldogs swept the entire tournament.

NU mentor Patrick Aquino shared that this may have been just an exhibition game but they did prepare well for it.

“3×3 is a great help for women’s basketball. Actually, we did practice for almost a month when we heard about this,” he said.

True enough, their preparation paid off.

Nablan scored the most with seven markers while the three-time MVP Bernardino chipped in four points.

Nathalia Prado paced the Lady Falcons with three points.

The Lady Bulldogs swept their first four matches in Group A before defeating the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the crossover semifinals 10-5.

On the other hand, the Lady Falcons topped Group A. Behind Jamie Alcoy and Prado, Adamson defeated the UST Growling Tigresses, 15-8.

The Scores:

NU 15 – Nabalan 7, Bernardino 4, Animam 3, Tiky 1

ADU 6 – Prado 3, Cabug 1, Lacson 1, Alcoy 1
