The De la Salle University Lady Archers sailed to their third consecutive in the UAAP Season 77 Women’s Basketball tournament after a staggering 66-31 win over the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, Thursday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Last year’s champions La Salle pulled away as early as the first quarter, taking a 17-7 lead in the first period of the game. A re-energized UP squad would fire back in the second quarter, but failed to match the Lady Archers’ assault. With a 36-19 lead at halftime, the Archers suppressed all attempts by UP to mount a comeback, holding the Maroons to a lowly 12-point output in the second half.
Alyanna Ong had 11 points and 7 rebounds for La Sallem while Steph Vegara also added 10 points. Bea Daez led all UP scorers with 6 points. The Lady Archers remain unbeaten in the women’s tournament, while the Lady Maroons have yet to register their first win.
