La Salle sends UE reeling to another winless season


The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Spikers swept the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors in straight sets, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18, in their final game of the UAAP Season 78 men’s volleyball tournament, Sunday morning at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Green Spikers dominated the match offensively, unleashing 38 spike kills compared to the Red Warriors’ 24. They were also able to disrupt UE enough, forcing them to 26 errors in just the three sets.

La Salle’s Raymark Woo led the way for the team, scoring 13 points, 10 off of spikes while notching a block kill and two aces. Cris Dumago replicated Raymark’s scoring with 13 points of his own, 12 of them coming from spikes.

For the Red Warriors, Ruvince Abrot was the lone player in double-digits with 12 points, 10 came via spikes, while pitching in an ace and a block as well. The next highest scorer was team captain Edward Camposano with 7 points.

The Red Warriors end their second straight season without a win, while the Green Spikers have missed the playoffs for three straight season.
