Coming off a disappointing win against the NU Bulldogs last Wednesday, the De La Salle University Green Batters sailed to an impressive 11-1 abbreviated eight inning victory over the University of Santo Tomas Golden Sox, Sunday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

“Sabi ko sa kanila kailangan nila ipakita sa laro na ito kung ano talaga yung laro ng La Salle,” said Green Batters head coach Joseph Orillana.
UST got off to a good start after a Ron dela Cruz double on the first pitch, scoring a run. La Salle though was able to get it back after a Josh Salinas triple in the second inning.
It was all La Salle from there.
Diego Lozano slammed a solo homer in the third inning. La Salle’s dominant showing was capped by a three-run eighth inning with Pao Salud and Jameson Esperas contributing an RBI.
Most Valuable Player candidate Kiko Gesmundo got the win for La Salle, surrendering just one run and four hits in seven innings pitched.
Lefty Lesmar Ventura took the loss for UST on the other hand.
All in all, La Salle had 13 hits in the contest with reigning MVP Iggy Escano, Anton Acuna, Lozano, and Angelo Tantuico collecting two hits each. Salud also had two stolen bases.
La Salle will next face the UP Fighting Maroons on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:00am. UST, on the other hand, looks to stay afloat in the playoff race when they face the NU Bulldogs on the same day.
