La Salle adds height with promising 6-8 big man Dominic Sarmiento

Dominic Sarmiento, a promising 6-foot-8 center, has committed to joining De La Salle University.

The announcement was made by Tumakbo United Basketball, a nonprofit Filipino basketball organization based in the United States, via their social media accounts.

Sarmiento will join fellow Tumakbo athletes Jacob Cortez and Ethan Alian in donning the green and white jersey.

Sarmiento spent his freshman year at Irvine Valley College. He then played in the Orange Empire Conference of the California Community College Athletic Association.

Prior to his collegiate career, he attended high school in Alameda, California.

During the 2023-2024 season, Sarmiento played 15 games for the Irvine Valley Lasers, averaging a point and a rebound in five and a half minutes of action. He also started in three games.

Following his commitment, Sarmiento will serve a one-year residency and will be eligible to play four seasons for the Taft-based squad starting in UAAP Season 88.

He will join an elite transfer class that includes Mason Amos, Cortez, Kean Baclaan, and Luis Pablo.

The addition of Sarmiento is expected to bolster the Green Archers’ lineup, adding depth and height to their frontcourt.
