De La Salle University’s Kyla Go will serve a one-game suspension on Wednesday when the Lady Archers clash with the Adamson University Lady Falcons at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in a crucial UAAP Season 88 Collegiate Women’s Basketball matchup.
Go, who is averaging 14.09 points per game — fourth best in the league — received her suspension after accumulating two unsportsmanlike fouls this season.
Her latest incident occurred at the 6:52 mark of the second quarter in La Salle’s game against Far Eastern University last Sunday, when she delivered an elbow to Amyah Espanol while coming down from a shot.
Video review confirmed that Go was fully aware of her opponent’s position yet still made forceful contact to the nape, a clear violation under Criteria 2 of the FIBA Unsportsmanlike Foul rules.
This marks her second unsportsmanlike foul, the first coming on October 25 against the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigresses.
The timing of the suspension could not be worse for La Salle, who currently sit at 4-7, as they face an Adamson squad that is 5-7 and shares fourth place with Far Eastern University.
With only a few games left in the elimination round, this matchup carries significant playoff implications for both teams.
