Kib Montalbo on suiting up: ‘Para makasalita ako sa kanila’

Last Monday, graduating De La Salle University Green Archer Kib Montalbo was handed some of the worst news a player could receive. He was diagnosed with a broken left thumb that will sideline him for at most six weeks.

“I’ll be back, I’ll be back for sure. Looking forward to it,” shared the 21-year-old, who was sidelined back in 2015 due to an ACL tear.

“Hopefully, one month or less, I don’t know e. Day-by-day e.”

Sunday afternoon, an 11-man Green Archers squad took to the floor. Still, there were 12 players who suited up, as Kib Montalbo also was in uniform.

La Salle put up a valiant stand against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, but their fight fell short, falling 61-67.

Still, through thick or thin, he wanted to be with his teammates even on the sidelines.

“The show goes on.

“It’ll never stop kahit wala ako diyan. Only thing is they have to step up. Nandito naman ako para mag-guide sa kanila,” the 5-foot-11 combo guard declared.

And Montalbo can’t wait to have his name called up once again.
