ANTIPOLO — Kevin Alas is suspected to have suffered another ACL injury.
NLEX head coach Frankie Lim lamented that the prognosis isn’t looking good after the star guard hurt his left knee early in their eventual loss to Terrafirma in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup, Saturday evening.
“Pina-MRI eh. Pero ‘yung mga PT namin dito, suspect nila ACL,” said the veteran mentor moments after their 113-112 defeat at the Ynares Center here.
Alas, 32, left the game at the 11:11-mark of the second quarter after his left knee gave away while attacking the defense of Javi Gomez de Liano in transition. It took him a while to stand up before walking by himself to their bench.
He eventually left the venue to undergo MRI scanning.
“Siya lang mag-isa [na-injure] eh. Nadisgrasya,” Lim said.
The Road Warriors would lose the match but more than the result, it’s the status of their leader that the team is most concerned about. It could be recalled that he had already sustained the same injury on his right knee twice.
He suffered both of those at the Ynares Center.
Now, the Road Warriors hold their breath as they await the MRI results on the injured knee, which could come in early next week,
“Tingnan natin. Baka sa Lunes, makita resulta ng MRI. Sana ‘di masyadong [malala],” said Lim.
