Kaisaya’s battle is not just for herself: ‘It’s for everyone na hindi pa nagsasalita’

This is for more than one woman.

Em “Kaisaya” Dangla — who recently revealed the sexual harassment she experienced in the esports industry two years ago — said this is for all the victims who still cannot speak out and fight.

“I don’t want it to call na ‘Justice for Kaisaya lang’,” she said on the pilot episode of Tiebreaker Vods’ Beyond The Meta, presented by SMART, Monday.

“It is for everyone na hindi pa makapagsalita or hindi pa makuha ‘yung justice nila.”

On September 26, the Liyab Esports Arena of Valor captain revealed in a lengthy Facebook post her experiences two years ago, when shoutcaster Zeus Torquator sent out her private video with ex-boyfriend Aron Laxamana.

She filed a case against Laxamana and Torquator, but one of her testifiers in caster Shin Boo “Sh1nboo” Ponferrada backed out, a reason for the case not to push through.

Kaisaya posted the sexual harassment incident a week ago after Sh1nboo and Torquator had a quarrel on Facebook, where the former brought up the incident.

“Zeus Torquator, awit bongklinks. I remember refusing to testify against you, dahil tropa pa rin ako despite ng nangyari and also recommending the team na ibalik ka sa MPL, tapos mananabla ka ng ganyan?” Sh1nboo’s comment said.

But on the podcast hosted by fellow streamers Apple David and Carla Lizardo, Kaisaya said she decided not to pursue the case anymore.

She had already settled the issue privately with all the parties involved.

Still, with the young esports industry not a safe space for all genders right now, Kaisaya admitted there is still a lot of work to be done.

Kaisaya said the organizations who have shown support and have said they are anti-harassment must also make sure that the industry is a safe workplace for all.

She also called on her fellow gamer-influencers to speak up and use their platform.

“Please lahat ng may mga platform, ‘yung mga influencers, gamitin natin ‘yung pagiging influencer natin para maging mabuting ehemplo,” the shoutcaster said.

“We have a platform for a reason, we have a good following for a reason. Gamitin sana natin ‘yun para makapag-send out ng words sa mga tao, ‘di ba?”
