Kai Sotto’s good friend and former teammate in G League Ignite Princepal Singh has been called up to India’s 22-man pool for the Quezon City window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
The 21-year-old, 6-foot-9 big man was also part of Sacramento’s Summer League team before signing as a development player for New Zealand in NBL-Australia.
India also enlisted four NBA Global India prospects for the window that will be played at the SMART Araneta Coliseum from February 24-28.
Seven-foot-two Aryan Kumar, 6-foot-1 point guard Harsh Dagar, 6-foot-7 center Pranav Prince, and 6-foot-4 guard Lokendra Singh were also called up.
Headlining the team are veterans AJ and Amritpal Singh of Punjab Police; Vishesh Bhriguvanshi of ONGC; Huin Bek Hafeez of Indian Bank; and Deepak Choudhary of Indian Railways.
Completing the squad are Aravind Annadurai of Income Tax, Manoj Belur Manjunatha and Pratyanshu Tomar of Karnataka, Palpreet Singh Brar of Indian Railways, Shashank Jayashankar Rai of Karnataka, Rajeev Kumar of SSCB, Seijin Mathew of Kerala, Arvind Kumar Muthi Krishnan of Tanil Nadu, Amarendra Nayak and Sajaij Pratap Singh Sekhon of Chandigarh, Sahajkumar Rajeshbhai Patel of Gujarat, and Prashant Singh Rawat of Uttarakhand.
India faces New Zealand on the 24th, Gilas on the 25th, South Korea on the 27th, and New Zealand again on the 28th.
