Kai Sotto arrived in the country Monday evening with no family members or an entourage with him.
Yes, he will be alone during his 10-day hotel quarantine.
“Okay naman. Ako lang mag-isa. Dapat kasama ko buong family ko kaso walang available na limang spots sa flight. Diretso na ko hotel after,” he told News5’s Lyn Olavario moments after his arrival.
If he clears his second RT-PCR test on June 6, Sotto will have permission to leave the hotel on June 10. Afterwards, he can spend the last four days of his quarantine at “home”.
By then, however, Gilas Pilipinas Men’s will be in Clark for the final window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Sotto’s inclusion in the lineup for either Gilas’s game against South Korea and Indonesia from June 16 to 20 remains uncertain. Still, he said that he will remain ready for Gilas.
Moreover, he has committed to staying with the team until the Belgrade Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which begins on June 29.
“Hanggang after ng OQT tapos punta na ‘kong Australia. Ako, depende na sa quarantine measures kung may mababago pa. Pero ako, kahit anong mangyari, stay ready pa rin ako maglaro kahit kailan pa ko nandito sa Pilipinas.”
