In Orlando’s last game in the 2023 NBA Summer League elimination round, the Magic finally fielded Kai Sotto.
Sotto logged 13 minutes in Orlando’s 71-88 loss to Portland on Friday morning (Manila time) at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 7-foot-3 Filipino big man, who was a DNP in the Magic’s losses to Detroit, Indiana, and New York, made the most of the playing time given to him.
During his time on the floor, Sotto tallied six points, four rebounds, and three blocks.
“I just wanted to impact the game. Sadly, we didn’t win, but there’s a lot to learn from this game,” said Sotto.
Sotto scored his first-ever basket in the dying second of the third quarter, cleaning up a miss for a putback.
Getting his groove, Sotto then swished a jumper and threw down a jam in the final quarter.
Michael Devoe was the high-point man for the Blazers with 18 points while Duop Reath, Shaedon Sharpe, and Jabari Walker chipped in 12 points apiece.
Dexter Dennis led all Magic players with 16 points.
The Magic closed their campaign with a 0-4 record. They will still have a consolation game on Sunday against Boston.
