Koshigaya formalized the signing of Kai Sotto as its Asian Quota Player for the 2024-25 B.League season on Friday.
The Alphas are looking to make a huge impact in their B1 debut, going on a signing spree that includes the 7-foot-3 Filipino.
The 22-year-old Filipino big man feels excited to be part of Koshigaya’s rebuilding process.
“I’m very excited to join the Koshigaya Alphas! Coming from B2, I know this team wants to prove that they belong in B1, so I’m really up for the challenge to help this team win games and reach the next level,” he said.
Sotto has spent the last two years in Japan.
During his first year, Sotto played for Hiroshima. In 24 games, he averaged 8.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
He was loaned by the Dragonflies to the Yokohama B-Corsairs last season.
With Yuki Kawamura as his point guard, Sotto shone brightly, averaging 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
This time around, he gets to play alongside veteran big man in LJ Peak.
“I want to get better and improve my game, which is why I chose the Alphas. I know they will really help me. I can’t wait to go to Koshigaya, see the city, and especially meet the fans,” he expressed.
