Reigning MVP Kacey Dela Rosa of Ateneo de Manila University is in prime position to defend her crown, leading the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Basketball Tournament MVP race after an outstanding first-round performance.
Dela Rosa currently tops the statistical points leaderboard with 90.143, showcasing her all-around dominance with totals of 150 points, 103 rebounds, nine assists, seven steals, and 15 blocks over seven games.
The 6-foot center has been the anchor for the Blue Eagles, leading her side to a 4-3 record.
Close behind Dela Rosa is University of Santo Tomas’ Kent Pastrana, who holds 84.714 statistical points.
Pastrana, the UAAP Season 86 Athlete of the Year, has been a force for defending champions Growling Tigresses. She has tallied 121 points, 64 rebounds, 19 assists, and an impressive 16 steals across her seven games.
Ateneo’s Junize Calago rounds out the top three with 72.571 statistical points, thanks to her averages of 12.57 points, 7.86 rebounds, 4.86 assists, and 2.43 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, University of the Philippines sophomore Louna Ozar has earned 71.571 statistical points, following stellar norms of 12.29 points, 8.86 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.71 steals.
Ateneo’s Sarah Makanjuola sits in fifth place with 67.429 statistical points, largely thanks to her rebounding. She has pulled down 93 boards to go along with 89 points and 10 blocks.
Rounding out the top ten are Angel Surada of NU (65.714), Camille Clarin of NU (64.429), UST’s Eka Soriano (64.0), UP’s Achrissa Maw (63.857), and UE’s Rachel Lacayanga (60.667).
