Defending champion Ginebra San Miguel is still sticking with Justin Brownlee – for now.
The three-time PBA Best Import remains part of the Barangay as he remains listed in their preliminary lineup for the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Brownlee, who led Gilas Pilipinas to gold in the 19th Asian Games, is currently embroiled in doping allegations. A test found traces of 11-Nor-9-carboxy-THC – a substance linked to cannabis use – in his system.
The 35-year-old naturalized Filipino has until October 19 to submit his B-sample.
If found guilty, Brownlee will be suspended for two years – including not being able to play in the PBA.
Headlining Ginebra is new recruit Maverick Ahanmisi, who signed with the Barangay as an unrestricted free agent a couple of months ago.
He will join the star-studded squad that is bannered by Scottie Thompson, Christian Standhardinger, Jamie Malonzo, Japeth Aguilar, and Stanley Pringle.
Also part of the squad coached by Tim Cone are Jared Dillinger, Nards Pinto, Von Pessumal, Sidney Onwubere, Aljon Mariano, Raphael Cu, Donald Gumaru, Jayson David, and Raymond Aguilar.
Jeremiah Gray, who will be out for the season, is listed as injury reserve.
Meanwhile, LA Tenorio is not part of the lineup.
Ginebra will open its title defense on Friday, November 17 against Converge at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
