After bagging the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference award earlier on Friday evening, marking his seventh BPC plum, June Mar Fajardo has added another feather on his cap.
The San Miguel Beermen star made his entry into the 5,000-point club during Game Four of their Finals series versus Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Fajardo, who needed 14 points to make it, achieved the feat at the 7:49-mark of the final quarter through a putback off his own miss. That shot gave him his 15th point of the match.
The reigning, four-time league MVP hit 5,000 points in just 287 games, the fastest to reach the mark since Barangay Ginebra’s long-time franchise player Mark Caguioa did it in 279 games.
