Mixed martial arts fans were ecstatic when “the date” for the rematch between Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks was mentioned during the live broadcast of ONE Fight Night 11 on Saturday, June 10.
Color commentator Mitch Chilson broke the news during his post-fight interview with unbeaten Russian newcomer Mansur Malachiev, who won his promotional debut against former ranked strawweight contender and Filipino fighter Jeremy Miado by first-round submission on the same card.
However, Chilson did not mention exactly when or where the rematch would take place.
A trustworthy source within the organization refuted this claim to Tiebreaker Times.
This was supported by Pacio, who confirmed that he has not received any formal offer from ONE Championship for a rematch with Brooks.
“They haven’t told me anything yet. I was surprised when I heard it,” Pacio told Tiebreaker Times.
Pacio clarified that he is prepared if ONE Championship decides to schedule the second fight against Brooks soon.
“I’m down with it. Anywhere in the world,” he stated.
Pacio and Brooks first faced each other at ONE 164 in December 2022. There, the American spitfire successfully dethroned the Filipino phenom in front of a hometown crowd by a close unanimous decision to claim the ONE strawweight championship.
Both men have not competed since that grueling encounter. Pacio and Brooks exchanged pleasantries when they saw each other in Denver, Colorado, for ONE Championship’s inaugural event in the United States in May.
