Jordi GDL follows bro Joe’s path, commits to UST

Jordi Gomez de Liaño will be carving his own path — not in University of the Philippines, but in University of Santo Tomas.

This, as the 6-foot-5 guard out of UPIS will be joining the Growling Tigers for his collegiate career.

The Gomez de Liaño family and head coach Jinino Manansala confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.

“Malaking bagay sa tinatayo naming programa si Jordi kasi madaming nawala na wing sa amin,” said Manansala, referring to Rhenz Abando and CJ Cansino, who transferred to Letran and UP, respectively.

“With Jordi, mayroong kaming big guard who could shoot. Happy kami to help him grow more as a player.”

Jordi’s eldest brother Joe was also a former Growling Tiger.

Jordi, 18, spent his last five years in UPIS, playing 40 games there. He averaged 7.2 points and 2.88 rebounds per contest.

In his Grade 11 year, he averaged career-highs of 13.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
