Jordan Heading and Taichung Wagor needed to dig deep to extend their winning run in the 2021-22 T1 League season, scoring a come-from-behind 98-95 win against Tainan TSG, Sunday at Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science Shao Tsung Gymnasium.
Heading, who is celebrating his 26th birthday today, got 28 points in the contest, burying four treys while grabbing seven rebounds.
It was the Fil-Australian who kept the Suns within striking distance against the Ghosthawks. Sani Sakakini provided the finish.
After a Will Artino bucket gave Tainan a 92-90 lead with 1:43 left, the Pakistani scored on a push shot to knot things up.
A missed trey by Liu Jenhao led to Sakakini finding a cutting Julian Wright for the jam.
Jordan Chatman then missed on a leaner on the other end that led to Sakakini scoring on the game-sealing free throws with 11 seconds left.
Sakakini got 22 points and 11 rebounds as well, lifting the Suns to its fifth straight win for a 7-5 slate.
Wright added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Su Yichin and Ting Shengju chipped in 12 points apiece.
Tainan dropped its fifth straight game, falling to 2-8 in the standings.
Artino was once again a beast in the contest, scoring 41 points while grabbing 20 rebounds. Charles Garcia produced 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Chatman added 14 points.
Heading and Taichung will next face Jason Brickman and Kaohsiung on February 12 ON the latter’s home floor.
