Jordan Clarkson to join Gilas in Manila

Jordan Clarkson will not be able to join Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 Heyuan WUS International Basketball Tournament.

The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year has told the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas that he will only leave the United States on August 6 and will only arrive in Manila on the 8th.

The China pocket tournament also has Iran’s Team B and non-World Cup team Senegal also competing in it. The competition will take place from August 2 to 7.

The development was reported by News5’s Martie Bautista.

“He won’t play in China. He might just go straight here in Manila,” said Gilas head coach Chot Reyes on Tuesday morning.

According to Gilas team manager Butch Antonio, Gilas will only bring 14 players to China.

The delegation will include June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Kiefer Ravena, Dwight Ramos, Roger Pogoy, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., CJ Perez, Thirdy Ravena, Chris Newsome, Jamie Malonzo, Calvin Oftana, Rhenz Abando, and AJ Edu.

Kai Sotto and Scottie Thompson are still in rehab for their respective injuries.

Justin Brownlee and Angelo Kouame will not join the team as well.
