The question about Gilas Pilipinas head coach for the second window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers now has an answer.
Jong Uichico has been announced as the chief tactician of the team when it heads to Manama, Bahrain from November 27 to 30.
“The national team director is Tab Baldwin and the head coach is Jong Uichico,” said Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio.
The last time he was head coach of the national team was during the 2017 SEA Games.
For SBP Special Assistant to the President Ryan Gregorio, the team will continue using Baldwin’s system.
“The system we’re using will be the system of Coach Tab so all the coaches must be able to adapt,” he said on 2OT.
Also composing the coaching staff are Boyet Fernandez, Alton Lister, Sandro Soriano, and Andrei Tolentino.
Gilas faces Thailand on the 27th, Korea on the 28th, Indonesia on the 29th, and Thailand again on the 30th.
During the first window, Mark Dickel was the team’s interim head coach.
