Joanie Delgaco missed out on the medal semifinal races, finishing in sixth place with a time of 7:58.30 in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 Rowing women’s single sculls quarterfinals on Tuesday at the Nautical Stadium in Vaires-sur-Marne.
After a strong start off the platform, Delgaco crossed the first quarter of the 2000-meter course in fifth place with a time of 1:53.52 – just four seconds behind third-running Jovana Arsić of Serbia.
However, Azerbaijan’s Diana Dymechenko caught up and eventually overtook Arsić, finishing in fourth place.
Virginia Diaz Rivas of Spain secured the final spot in Semifinals A/B over Arsić and Dymechenko, while the latter joined Delgaco in Semifinal C/D.
Delgaco will try to bounce back in the consolation semifinals set for Wednesday at 4:14 PM (Philippine time) at the same venue.
