Jericho Cruz leads Guam in historic World Cup Qualifiers debut

Jericho Cruz will be among those leading the attack for Guam in their first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers appearance.

The San Miguel Beer wing has been named to the 12-man roster that Coach EJ Calvo put together in a bid to deliver a commendable performance in Window 1 as the road to Qatar officially opens.

Cruz will serve as one of the squad’s veterans alongside Tai Wesley, Jonathan Galloway, and Joe Blas.

The rest of the roster includes Isaiah Africano, Mark Johnson, Tomas Calvo, Kirston Guzman, Darren Hechanova, Takumi Simon, DJ Osborn, and Matt Fergurgur.

Together, they are tasked with representing the island in arguably their biggest tournament to date, vying for a spot in the 2027 World Cup.

The Guamanians will open their Asian Qualifiers campaign with back-to-back games against the Philippines in a PBA-flavored home-and-away series, where Cruz will face some of his SMB teammates and league rivals.
