Jason Celis, EJ Agbong transfer from Letran to JRU

Continuing the rebuild of the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, newly-minted coach Louie Gonzalez was able to secure the transfers of two Letran Knights.

EJ Agbong and Jason Celis have moved from Intramuros to Kalentong.

The development was confirmed by Gonzalez himself.

And the recruitment of the two is big for the former DLSU Green Archers mentor’s program as both Agbong and Celis came from a winning high school program.

“Malaki impact sa program. Not just talent, the two came from a winning program, Chiang Kai Shek,” he said.

“They are models by example and also leaders. They possess a lot sa brand ng game and philosophy ko.”

In their rookie year with Letran, both Agbong and Celis played 17 out of Letran’s 19 games.Letran_EJAgbong1 Jason Celis, EJ Agbong transfer from Letran to JRU Basketball CSJL JRU NCAA News - philippine sports news

Agbong, who stands at 6-foot-2 and hails from Cagayan de Oro, played 5.6 minutes per game, averaging 1.1 points per contest.

Bacolod-native Celis, on the other hand, logged 4.4 minutes per game and averaged 2.1 points. He stands at 5-foot-9.

The two will sit out one year before getting to play in the NCAA Season 96 Seniors Basketball Tournament.

“And the best news with both Ej Agbong and Jason Celis is that both have four more playing years which is perfect for the program.”
