Though his Mono Vampire lost to the debuting Macau Black Bears in their 9th ASEAN Basketball League opener Saturday at their home floor in Nonthaburi, Thailand, Jason Brickman had something to be proud of.
The Fil-American is now the regional pro league’s all-time assists leader, surpassing compatriot Froilan Baguion.
The 5-foot-10 floor general out of Long Island University produced 10 dimes – along with nine points and two rebounds – in the 100-106 defeat, en route to 577 career assists, eight more than the previous record of Baguion at 569.
Brickman reached the feat at a fast rate, as he is just in the beginning of his fourth season in the ABL.
Baguion, meanwhile, collected his assists from 2009 to 2015, where he played for various teams such as the AirAsia Philippine Patriots, Chiang Thailand Slammers, San Miguel Beermen, Saigon Heat, and Mono.
