Jaron Requinton relishes new role with Criss Cross

Jaron Requinton’s hard work continues to pay dividends as he solidifies his spot in Criss Cross’ starting lineup in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

After earning a spot start in the team’s opening-day win, Requinton impressed the coaching staff enough to secure a place in the King Crunchers’ starting rotation for the next five games — all of which resulted in victories.

Outside hitter ‘yun, then ngayon nasa opposite ako then nasa starting pa rin,” said Requinton after earning his second Player of the Game award in their win over Alpha Insurance on Sunday.

Requinton showcased his consistency against the Protectors, converting 10 of his 13 attack attempts. He also recorded a block and an ace to finish with 12 points in the 25-10, 25-12, 25-11 victory at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The former UST beach volleyball star credited his strong performances to the trust given by the team, vowing to maximize every opportunity he gets on the court.

Averaging 12.1 points per game through six matches, Requinton stands as the only King Cruncher to have scored in double figures in each outing.

The Alas Pilipinas beach volleyball standout ranked eighth in total scoring with 61 points at the end of the elimination round’s first phase. He also placed sixth in spiking efficiency at 42.74%, eighth in blocking with 0.44 per set, and ninth in serving at 0.17 per set.

It has been an impressive campaign for Requinton, who barely saw playing time in Criss Cross’ first two conferences in the league.

Even Requinton himself admitted he was surprised by his recent success, sharing that his primary focus has been to enjoy the game and contribute to the team’s success however he can.
