Jamie Malonzo tops Thirdy, Juan GDL in online dunk contest

Despite being at home, Jamie Malonzo still put on a show.

The former De La Salle University stalwart bested Ateneo product Thirdy Ravena and UP guard Juan Gomez de Liaño in an epic online dunk contest called Home Jam: Dunkers Only, Saturday afternoon.

In the contest judged by UP’s Kobe Paras and San Beda product Robert Bolick, Malonzo, who is in California, slammed an off-the-bounce windmill dunk in his third and final attempt to tally a game-winning 59 points.

Gomez de Liano had 58 points, while Ravena finished third with 57.

Malonzo was the top man from start to finish.

His one-handed slam tallied a 19, while Ravena did a beautiful windmill jam for early leadership. Gomez de Liaño threw down an off-the-bounce dunk in the opening stanza for an 18.

Everyone had a 20 in the second round.

All participants still went home happy as Malonzo also took home a gimmick award in best sneakers; Gomez de Liaño went home with the best prop when he slammed over his dad Bert; while the best dunk award went to Ravena after his sidestep jam.

This is just the first of online events ABS-CBN Sports will hold.

ABS-CBN streamed the show online as its franchise has expired.
