Isaac Go has been named the team captain of Gilas Pilipinas for the upcoming Clark window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Go, 25, will take over the spot left by Rey Suerte, who exited the team due to an ankle injury he sustained last Thursday.
The 6-foot-8 stretch big man was the first overall pick in the 2019 PBA Draft’s Gilas section.
The soft-spoken Go has been one of the leaders of this batch of Gilas due to his work ethic. Moreover, he has been a glue guy for the team, especially for the bigs.
So far, Go has played in three games in the Qualifiers. He averaged 5.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Go has also faced South Korea before during the 2018 William Jones Cup.
Back in July of 2018, Go and Ateneo Pilipinas bowed to South Korea, 73-90. Go had five points in the game.
Gilas face South Korea on the 16th and the 20th.
Go will be the third captain of Gilas in this tournament, with Kiefer Ravena being named as captain during the first window while Mike Nieto followed suit in Manama.
