How Dwight Ramos helped facilitate Kianna Dy’s move to PLDT

The sight of Kim Kianna Dy no longer donning F2 Logistics’ yellow and gold came as an unexpected turn of events.

When F2 decided to disband the Cargo Movers, Dy and the team found themselves in search of a new home.

Dy, the inaugural PNVF Champions League Most Valuable Player, became one of the most sought-after players, and PLDT aimed to secure her services.

The High Speed Hitters, however, had an ace up their sleeves.

Rumors about the demise of the Cargo Movers had circulated during the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference.

It was also last November when Dwight Ramos arrived in the country during the B.League break.

During his brief vacation here, Ramos was renewed as a SMART ambassador – a role he has had since 2021.

A month later, Dy then had meetings with PLDT/Smart head of sports Jude Turcuato, team manager Bajjie Del Rosario, and, even, former president Al Panlilio.

Though the plans were good, it was Ramos who provided the kicker. He noted that the group had treated him well up until this day and that he hoped to be in under “one team” with Dy.

Well, Dy would sign with PLDT and bring good pals Majoy Baron and Kim Fajardo along with her.

“I’m just happy for her to have a new environment and be able to grow as a player and a person. It’s always a hard decision to choose a new team, but I’m sure PLDT will do great once they get acclimated together,” said Hokkaido’s Asian import.

“So, I’m just excited for PLDT and the team to see the mark they make in the PVL.”

Their bond is stronger than ever now that they are under one roof.
