Hot-shooting Che’Lu makes it rain on CEU

The Che’Lu Revellers bombarded the Centro Escolar University Scorpions with a bevy of threes on their way to a comfortable 105-80 rout Thursday in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Jeff Viernes led the Revellers in sniping down the Scorpions, drilling six triples to top his side with 22 points, four assists, and two rebounds.

Stephen Siruma followed suit with his 14 points, powered by four treys, while also amassing six assists and three boards.

Eighteen of Che’Lu’s 32 shots from beyond the arc found the bottom of the net, as their 56-percent clip from downtown easily waylaid CEU.

“Ang ganda ng shooting namin today. Mahirap kaming talunin ‘pag ganun ang shooting namin,” said coach Stevenson Tiu.

Jessie Collado also got things going inside with his 12 points and five rebounds, while Jay-R Taganas was a perfect dance partner for him and tallied a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.

Chris Bitoon contributed 10 for the Revellers, who have now won five straight games to reign atop the standings at 5-1.

“Hopefully, ituloy-tuloy na natin,” said Tiu.

Pierce Chan’s 16 points and 11 rebounds led CEU, while Rich Guinitaran had 13 in the defeat.

The Scorpions fell to a three-way tie in third place with Marinerong Pilipino-TIP and Batangas-EAC, as they all sport identical 3-3 records.
