Honorio Banario could not snap out of his funk, suffering a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Dae Sung Park, Friday evening during ONE: Dawn of Heroes.
This is Banario’s third loss in four bouts, falling to 14-9.
The former ONE Featherweight World Champion – who stepped up for an injured Lowen Tynane – was originally meant to take on Timofey Nastsyukhin in a ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix semifinals bout. However, Nastyukhin fell to injury, so his opponent became Parks instead.
Though Banario managed some bright moments – including a gallant first round stand – he could not escape Park’s takedowns.
The Korean fighter rose to 9-3.
Prior to this bout, James Nakashima continued to run roughshod on ONE Championship’s welterweight division, extending his clean record to 12-0 after smothering former UFC Middleweight contender Yushin Okami.
Nakashima dominated all 15 minutes of the bout to send Okami spiraling down to a 35-14 slate.
Later on, Daichi Takenaka (11-2-1) scored a massive upset of Leandro Issa (17-8).
Early in the third round, the Japanese bantamweight was able to knock down the Brazilian before finishing him off with strikes.
