Healthy competition with Petro Gazz addition pushes Lyann De Guzman, Nxled OGs

Nxled has added firepower to its roster for the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, welcoming several core players from Petro Gazz to the Chameleons.

The infusion of experienced talent has not only strengthened the squad—as seen in their 2-0 start to the tournament—but has also sparked healthy competition in training, pushing everyone to raise their level, something rookie Lyann de Guzman has thoroughly enjoyed.

“Sabi ko nga nung mga previous interviews na very healthy competition nga ‘yung sa team,” said the fourth overall pick of the 2025 PVL Draft.

“Everyone is willing to step up talaga to help the team. Nakikita naman na hindi one man show, but everyone is willing to help talaga to get this win.”

De Guzman has been vocal about how the roster changes and increased competition have elevated her own game, forcing her to adapt and improve alongside the team’s growing talent pool.

To compete at a higher level, especially with her switch from outside hitter to opposite, the former Ateneo de Manila University star has embraced the challenge, working tirelessly to refine her skills and adjust to her new role on the court.

“Of course, ‘yun nga sa bagong role na binigay sakin, accept lang din kasi nung college naman nag-opposite ako. Kung ano ‘yung kailangan ni coach, ibibigay ko lang kung ano kaya kong mabigay,” said De Guzman.

Her development has been evident in recent games—from providing a spark off the bench with seven points in Nxled’s win over Farm Fresh to reclaiming a starting role in their second match against Capital1, where she finished with 13 points and showcased her growing confidence and impact on the court.

“Actually, everyone kasi alam na ano gagawin inside the court. Everyone has the experience like matatagal na sa pros, so it’s easier na, ‘yung chemistry. And everyone is willing to learn from each other.”

Indeed, De Guzman’s continued growth reflects Nxled’s deeper roster and improved team chemistry. With veterans and new additions pushing each other in training, the Chameleons have become more versatile, giving head coach Ettore Guidetti more options and making the team increasingly difficult for opponents to contain.

“Sure, yes. I’m happier every single day about her effort and her attitude during the practice. I don’t remember a single practice that she didn’t try her best,” said Guidetti of De Guzman.

“Then obviously there are good days and bad days for everyone of us, but having players like this, it’s a real pleasure to coach. It’s a real pleasure.”
