Healing Coach: Tim Cone once again called up for Gilas duty

Just like in 2019 — following the debacle in China, Tim Cone has once again been called upon to serve as the “healing coach.”

Cone is set to coach the Gilas Pilipinas Men’s 5-on-5 team in the 19th Asian Games, which will take place just a few weeks after the conclusion of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

This was the same scenario four years ago when the 25-time PBA champion mentor was called to duty after Yeng Guiao resigned from his post following the Worlds.

The most decorated head coach in PBA history guided the country to gold in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

This development comes after Cone initially stated that he would step down from his role in Gilas if his good friend Chot Reyes vacated his position as well.

The Ginebra mentor is already a medalist in the Asiad, having won a bronze with the Centennial Team back in 1998.
