University of Santo Tomas’ Regina Jurado knows a thing or two when playing against National University.
So, when the opportunity came for the rookie outside hitter to show what she is made of against a familiar foe, she more than delivered.
Jurado filled the stat sheet with 18 points, 14 coming from attacks, two on blocks, and two more on service aces. She also helped on defense, finishing with 11 digs.
“Syempre, since first year ko po, masaya po ako na nakapag-contribute po ako. Isa po ako sa unang batch na nakakuha ng win against NU,” said the 5-foot-7 opposite, who was also part of the girls team back in Season 82.
Unfazed by the situation, Jurado ably helped her seniors Eya Laure and Milena Alessandrini steer the Golden Tigresses to the upset.
It all started with confidence in one’s abilities.
“Nung fifth set, inisip ko lang po noon na beatable naman sila. This season, hindi naman po ito yung first na five sets nila — meron din yung last time against Adamson po,” she said.
Jurado also took note of the best thing to face the pressure like what they faced against the defending champions on Saturday.
“Nilagay lang po namin yung heart namin, lalo na po mag-enjoy kasi yun po yung pinaka-importante ‘pag nasa loob ng court para mawala po yung pressure, mawala yung takot.”
