Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao had no reason to celebrate despite his Elasto Painters going ahead 2-0 in the best-of-five PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against the Meralco Bolts Sunday, after sensing that PBA referee Rey Yante was allegedly inventing calls.
“Sinungaling siya. Hindi niya ako nakita o narinig. You cannot invent calls,” the infuriated Guiao quipped of the official, who slapped him with another technical foul for profane language.
The fiery mentor added that he will try to make a request to the PBA to ban Yante from Rain or Shine games.
“We are going to request to the PBA not to assign him on our games. It is up to them. For a referee to invent calls, that’s dangerous. That’s just lying and basic dishonesty on his part,” Guiao said.
The Elasto Painters nailed a league season-high 19 triples to defeat the Bolts, 92-82 and will have a chance to close the series on Tuesday and book the first seat to the championship round.
