Free agent Greg Slaughter is still working hard on the gym despite not having a PBA team since February 1.
And the 7-foot big man is hoping for one thing — to be part of Gilas Pilipinas’ pool.
Tagging the official Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Instagram account, he said:
“I am available and have been working with 16-year NBA champion scout Gary Boyson,” he said.
“I would love to be included in the national team pools.”
After his one-year contract with Northport expired last January 31, Slaughter opted not to renew with the team.
He was averaging 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks.
However, it will be hard for Slaughter to be part of the pool because of Gilas’ partnership with the PBA.
It can be recalled that Robert Bolick was only able to join Gilas for the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ second window after re-upping with the Batang Pier.
Surprisingly, Slaughter was watching on the stands during Gilas’ game against the Tall Blacks last February 28.
Slaughter last played for the national team back in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
The next tournament Gilas is preparing for is the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi this May.
