Green Spikers whip hapless Red Warriors for fourth win

Staying on pace for a Final Four spot, the De La Salle University Green Spikers made short work of the University of the East Red Warriors, 25-23, 25-17, 25-15, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

After a tight first set, the Green Spikers cruised in the following two sets, stifling UE’s offense through solid serving.

Although it’s not reflected in their three-service ace tally, La Salle dominated through spikes, tallying 44 attacks to UE’s 30.

“Kailangan namin manalo nang manalo eh,” said La Salle’s graduating winger Raymark Woo who 14 points. “Gusto talaga namin na makapasok na talaga sa Final Four so importante na lahat ng games ipanalo namin hangga’t kaya namin.”

Arjay Onia topped the Taft-based spikers with 18 points while libero Jopet Movido managed six digs and 16 receptions.

The Green Spikers improved to 4-6, tied with the Adamson Soaring Falcons and UST Tiger Spikers for fourth. La Salle takes on the Tiger Spikers on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Alven Aljas topped the Red Warriors with eight points. UE remained winless in 10 outings.

The Red Warriors look to stun arch-rivals FEU Tamaraws on Saturday.
