After dropping their first two assignments in Season 77, the DLSU Green Spikers clinched their first victory in a one-sided win over the UE Red Warriors, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 held at San Juan Arena.
From the get go, the Green Spikers were stellar in their attacks that left the Warriors dazzled. Led by the duo of Red Chirstensen and John Onia, the Green Spikers were fiery in the start by raising the lead early giving UE a hard time to make a comeback.
In the second set, La Salle’s defense rattled the Red Warriors as UE committed unforced errors that help La Salle build another lead. Despite the late rally in the third set by UE, Jopet Movido anchored the defense for the Green Spikers with all of his five digs showcased in the latter moments of the last set.
La Salle outplayed UE in every category as the Taft-based crew whipped their counterparts in attacks, 47-28 and blocked more hits. 6-2. In addition, DLSU had two more service aces, 4-2 and committed less errors 18-26 to cement their first victory of the season in a convincing way.
Team captain Red Christensen topscored DLSU with 16 points while John Onia contributed 15. Edward Campusano was the lone bright spot for the Red Warriors offensively with his 13 markers.
The Green Spikers look to make their first win streak of the season against FEU on Sunday, Dec. 7 10am. On the other end, UE looks for their first victory against the defending champions NU on Dec. 10. Both games to be played still at San Juan Arena.
