With the UAAP season still three months away, the De La Salle Universiity Green Archers are not looking to rest on their laurels even after copping the school’s fourth Premier Cup crown in ten years.
“Madami pa kaming lapses and we are going to work on that,” first year La Salle head coach Aldin Ayo said. “Kahit mataas na-achieve namin, we will not be satisfied. We will continue improving.”
“This is just a preparation. Our main concern is our mother league the UAAP.”
La Salle’s summer campaign will officially end next week according to Ayo. “We’re going to take a break after our, hopefully, two games in the MILCU Got Skills tournament,” he said. “After that we are going to have a break, one week break. Siguro maghahanap kami ng pocket tournaments.”
The NCAA champion coach and team booster San Miguel Corporation chairman Danding Cojuangco are working on tune-up games between the Green Archers and PBA teams San Miguel Beermen, Star Hotshots, and Barangay Ginebra. “Nakausap ko na rin si Boss [Danding Cojuangco] at mag-aarrange kami ng mga tune-up games against the San Miguel teams sa PBA. San Miguel, or Star, or Ginebra,” the mentor added.
Another tune-up game they are working on that will test the mettle of the young La Salle backcourt is a potential game against Terrence Romeo, Stanley Pringle, and the GlobalPort Batang Pier. “I talked to boss Mikee [Romero] also,” the 38 year old mentor added. “Gusto ko maka-experience sila ng Terrence Romeo and [Stanley] Pringle dun sa camp namin.”
However, Ayo though did not comment regarding an international training camp for the team. “Wala depende kay Boss yan at sa managers kasi may gastos yan. Sa akin lang, kung ano puwede gawin para mas mag-improve yung team, bahala na sila dun,” Ayo closed.
