The 2021-22 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup is still ongoing but the league is already preparing for its next edition.
The PBA’s Board of Governors has approved guest team Bay Area Chun Yu to join Season 47’s Governors’ Cup tournament.
This is part of the PBA’s partnership with the East Asia Super League as the Phoenixes will represent China in the regional league which is set to start later this year.
“Whether we will be 11 or 12 teams by that time, guest team natin sila sa Governors’ Cup,” said league commissioner Willie Marcial.
The Phoenixes will compose of players that are free agents in China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Chinese-Taipei. The team manager of the team is former Chinese Basketball Association general manager Liu Quansheng.
It is also most likely that Bay Area Chun Yu will play its home games in the EASL in Manila, according to a report from PBA.ph.
