Barangay Ginebra swept the elimination round of the PBA-Tag Heuer 3-on-3 Women’s Basketball Tournament after defeating Star, 13-6, Friday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Ginebra finished with a 5-0 record in Group A to enter the semi-finals along with NLEX (4-1). Star wounded up with a 1-4 card.
Mix Bautista dominated the interior for Ginebra early on, as the team took a 7-2 lead. Clarissa Guevarra then hit a two, before Roscelle Teotico made a basket to cut the deficit down to 9-6.
But Ginebra scored four more points to end the game with a 13-6 score.
In the first game, Tropang TNT captured a semi-finals berth as well, after edging San Miguel, 11-8.
San Miguel gave TNT a chance early on, as free throws and a two-pointer by Denyse Jimenez gave the squad an 8-7 lead.
But Karen Salapong answered with a two, before Sarah Mercado sealed the game with two more points in the end, 11-8.
TNT topped Group B with a 4-1 card. Blackwater and Rain or Shine also have 4-1 records, although TNT advanced with a superior quotient.
San Miguel end the tournament with a winless 0-5 slate.
