Choco Mucho head coach and long-time Ginebra fan Dante Alinsunurin cherished the opportunity to meet Justin Brownlee moments after his team’s straight-set win over Cignal on Thursday night.
Alinsunurin had the chance to meet the resident Gin Kings import, who watched the PVL All-Filipino Conference double-header, before the Flying Titans’ post-game press conference and even asked to take a picture.
The multi-titled volleyball coach also used the opportunity to tell Brownlee that he has been supporting Ginebra ever since he was young.
“Syempre, lumaki talaga akong Ginebra at talagang yun ang pinapanood ko,” Alinsunurin told reporters.
Alinsunurin, who grew up watching the likes of Robert Jaworski, shared that he tries to instill the ‘Never Say Die’ spirit in every team that he coaches.
“Siguro sobrang nai-imagine ko talaga ngayon sa sitwasyon namin na talagang bawat laro ay importante, kahit anong sitwasyon o adjustment na pwedeng gawin, kailangan laban lang ng laban,” said the former national team coach.
“Kahit ano ‘man yung struggle namin sa loob ng court, kailangan laban. Importante pa rin sakin yun,” he added.
The Flying Titans head coach also expressed his utmost gratitude to Brownlee for taking the time to support women’s volleyball.
“Syempre sobrang… kasi alam mo naman na bihirang sumabaybay na basketball player sa volleyball, bagamat nasa women’s volleyball tayo, pero syempre sobrang thankful ako sa kanya kasi hindi lang siya sumusuporta sa basketball, pati na rin sa volleyball.”
