Gilas Pilipinas Women have bowed out of the FIBA 3×3 Under-23 World Cup 2026.
The Philippines dropped its final two assignments in the global meet, falling to Egypt, 16-12, and China, 18-9, on Thursday at Hongshan Riverfront Park in Wuhan, China.
Gilas went winless in its return to the world stage after also suffering losses to powerhouses France, 21-4, and Italy, 19-9, on Tuesday.
Against Egypt, the Filipinas actually held an 11-9 lead with 3:18 remaining before Farida Hassan Adel Hassan Mossad took charge.
With the game tied at 12-all, Tamara Ibrahim put Egypt ahead before Farida Hassan Adel Hassan Mossad scored on back-to-back baskets.
Gilas could not recover from there, suffering a heart-breaking defeat.
Louna Ozar scored eight points in the loss, while Marielle Vingno added two.
Hoping to end their campaign on a winning note, Gilas put up a fight against China.
The Philippines was down by just a point, 10-9, before foul trouble got in the way.
With Gilas’ defense collapsing, Wu Mengjie took full advantage, scoring four points during a 5-0 run that broke the game wide open.
Vingno scored four points to lead the Philippines against China, while Jam Meniano and Ozar added two apiece. Elaine Patio scored a point.
Gilas Women now shift their focus to the 20th Asian Games, where Kacey dela Rosa, Amyah Espanol, Kennan Ka, and Victoria Pasilang will look to give the country a podium finish.
